📢 Archivium Update August 2025

Small Fixes, Smoother Navigation & a Behind-the-Scenes Upgrade

This month’s update focuses on stability, cleanup, and smoothing out small quirks across the platform. While there are no major new features this time, these fixes make using the site a bit more seamless.

🧱 Under the Hood: TypeScript Migration

Behind the scenes, Archivium has been upgraded to use TypeScript across the codebase. This change doesn’t affect how you use the site, but it will allow us to catch bugs earlier and lay the foundation for a more stable future as we build out larger features. Believe us — this is a significant improvement.

🛠️ Bug Fixes & UI Refinements

We’ve squashed a bunch of small but impactful bugs and inconsistencies:

• Fixed a syntax error in the Lineage tab dropdown when names contained `'` characters

• The system will no longer allow you to enter invalid shortnames

• New Item buttons now display with correct spacing and no missing words

• Authors are now sorted by their permission level on universe pages and in the universe list

• You can now start new discussion threads (if permitted) even when “Anyone can comment” is turned off

• The comment field on items is hidden when discussions are disabled at the universe level — but past comments still appear

• New Item buttons only appear when you have permission to create items in that universe

• Fixed layout spacing between the home page (if present) and tab bar

• Fixed broken links to notes from the search page

• Added a small workaround to support ALL-CAPS or MiXeD-CaPs category names
