📢 Archivium Update June 2025
Newsletter Support, UI Improvements, Search Upgrades & More
Here’s a quick look at what’s new in Archivium over the past few weeks. This update includes a mix of new features, visual refinements, and some long-requested tools to help you work more comfortably and flexibly.
📰 The Archivium Newsletter
We’ve added a dedicated News section to the site where regular update newsletters will be posted — this is the very first one! You can follow updates directly on Archivium or subscribe to receive them by email. Whenever a new post is published, subscribers will be notified automatically.
🧭 UI Fixes & Design Improvements
The interface has been refined in a number of ways: the home page now uses a more compact layout that adapts better to mobile screens, box shadows scale properly across viewports, and the navbar no longer cuts off text due to font height mismatches. If the home page still overflows, specific elements will now scroll internally to avoid layout issues.
Navigation is also smoother. Breadcrumbs have been fixed across pages — including for universes on custom domains — and a “go back” button has been added to the edit permissions page. We’ve also improved the look and feel of item types by displaying them as colorful labels and updated the Create Item page to dynamically reflect the selected type. The universe and item lists now both have dedicated "Create New" buttons at the top.
🔍 Smarter Search & Better Lists
Search has been overhauled. Item matches now include a preview of body content, with highlights for relevant terms. You can search through your notes (both from the main search page and within the notes view), and pressing Enter will now trigger the search as expected.
Lists across the site are now more consistent and sortable. Items and universes default to sorting by most recently updated, instead of least recently created. Universes are grouped by your relationship to them — universes you follow or are an author of are grouped first. We’ve also added search bars to item lists, universe lists, and user/thread sections within each universe.
🔗 Link Handling & Shortnames
Link construction has been improved to preserve query parameters and hashes, fixing a few subtle navigation issues. You can now edit shortnames for both items and universes directly (though you should do so with caution!), and we’ve resolved an annoying issue with the item editor falsely warning about unsaved changes.
🗑️ Deletion Tools & Ownership Permissions
Deletion is now supported for a range of entities. You can delete your own items, comments, and notes. Admins can delete all comments, and users with a new Owner permission level can delete entire universes — including those that aren’t empty. You can also request account deletion; this will need to be confirmed manually by the site owner.
That’s all for now. As always, if you run into any issues or have suggestions, feel free to open a ticket on GitHub or contact us at [email protected].
