Discussion and Comments

Main Text
Archivium has two ways to talk about a universe: discussion threads, which are about the universe as a whole, and comments, which are attached to a specific item or story chapter.
Enabling Discussion
Discussion is controlled by two settings on the universe's Edit page:
Discussion — Enabled or Disabled. When disabled, the universe has no Discuss tab and no item comments.
Who can comment — either Anyone, or Only with COMMENT permissions.
When Anyone is selected, any logged-in user who can view the universe can post: anyone at all for public universes, and anyone with at least Read access for private ones. When restricted, only users with the Comment permission level or higher can post.
Discussion Threads
When discussion is enabled, the universe page has a Discuss tab listing its threads, with each thread's comment count, when it was created, and when it was last active. Use the Search... box to find a thread.
To start a new thread, click Create New, enter a Subject and an optional Message, and click Create Thread.
On a thread's page, click the bell icon to subscribe or unsubscribe from notifications about new comments in the thread.
Item Comments
To allow comments on an item, switch on Enable comments in the item editor. Discussion must also be enabled on the universe — if it isn't, you'll see a message reminding you to enable it.
Comments appear at the bottom of the item's page. Click Subscribe on an item to be notified about new comments on it.
Chapter Comments
Any logged-in user can comment on a published story chapter. The story's author is notified about new comments.
Posting and Deleting Comments
Type your comment in the comment box and click Post Comment. Comments can be up to 2000 characters long, and support markdown formatting.
You can Delete your own comments at any time. Universe Admins can delete any comment in their universe, and story authors can delete any comment on their chapters. Deleted comments are shown as "Deleted comment".
