Main Text
Notes are quick pieces of text you can jot down and pin to items. Use them for ideas you haven't fleshed out yet, to-do lists, research, reminders, or feedback for your collaborators. Unlike item text, notes belong to you — only you can edit your notes.
The Notes Page
Click Notes in the navigation bar to see all of your notes. Each note shows its title, author, when it was last updated, and a short preview. From here you can:
Click a note to expand it and read the whole thing.
Click Edit to open it in the note editor.
Type in the Search... box to filter your notes by title or text.
Click a
#tagto show only notes with that tag. Click it again to clear the filter.Click Create Note to start a new note.
Writing a Note
The note editor has:
Title
A rich text editor for the note's body. You can link to items with
@just like in item text.Public — whether other people can see the note (see Visibility below). New notes are private.
Linked items — the items this note is pinned to. Pick items from any universe you have access to, and click the delete icon to unlink one.
Tags — for organizing your notes.
Notes save the same way items do. Click Back to List when you're done, or Delete to delete the note permanently.
Notes on Items
Every note linked to an item appears in that item's Notes tab. Click Create Note from an item's Notes tab to create a new note that's already linked to it.
The Notes tab is shown to everyone when Enable notes is switched on in the item editor. If it isn't switched on, the tab is still shown to people with Write access when the item has notes linked to it — it's labelled Notes (Hidden) as a reminder that other readers can't see it.
Visibility
Private notes can only ever be seen by you.
Public notes can be seen by anyone who can view an item the note is linked to.
Only the author of a note can edit it, even if it's public.
