Sponsoring a Universe
Universes are upgraded by sponsoring them. Users with a premium account can sponsor a number of universes, depending on their plan. Upgrading a universe uses up one of your sponsorships, and downgrading it frees the sponsorship up again.
To upgrade a universe, open it and click Upgrade (you'll need to be an Admin). Choose Premium Tier and click Confirm Change. The page shows how many of your upgrades you've used. On an already-premium universe, the button reads Manage Sponsorship instead.
Only Owners can change a sponsorship set up by someone else.
Themes
Themes change the look of Archivium: its colors, and for some themes, a background gradient or photo. Every theme supports both light and dark mode. Themes are picked from a set of preview swatches.
Basic themes — Default, Glass, Sepia, Monochrome and High Contrast are available to everyone.
Premium themes — the rest of the themes, including the photo backgrounds (such as Space, City and Polaris), are marked Premium Only for free users and universes.
Custom Theme (premium) — design your own theme. Choose a background image URL, optionally use the glass pane style, and turn on Use custom color palette to pick your own page, sheet, text and link colors (plus an optional accent color) for both light and dark mode.
There are two places to choose a theme:
Universe themes — Admins can pick a theme in the Theme setting on the universe's Edit page. Everyone viewing the universe will see it in that theme, overriding their own preference. Choose None if you'd rather let viewers use their own theme. Premium themes require a premium universe.
Personal themes — anyone can pick their preferred theme under Change Preferences on the Settings page. Premium themes require a premium account.
Custom Tab Types
Premium universes can define tab types: structured tabs, like character sheets, that any item in the universe can add. Where custom data tabs are a free-form list of keys and values, tab types have a fixed layout of fields — text boxes, numbers, lists, checkboxes, rating ladders, computed values and more — so that every item using them stays consistent.
Tab types are managed in the Tab Types section of the universe's Edit page. Each has:
A Tab Title, shown on items that use it.
An ID, made up of lowercase letters, numbers and dashes.
A layout, written in JSON, describing the tab's fields.
Click Add Tab Type to create one. Once created, a tab type can be:
Added to any item from the + menu in the item editor.
Added to the default tabs of an item type, so that new items of that type start with it.
If you remove a tab type that's in use, the data in items is kept but hidden. Adding a tab type back with the same ID makes it visible again.
